چکیده

Voltage gated Potassium channels has long been recognized as important for function of excitable cell such as electrical signalling in the brain and rhythmic beating of the heart. These cells generate action potentials, which require voltage-gated sodium (NaV) channels for the depolarization phase (upstroke) and voltage-gated potassium (KV) channels for the repolarization phase (downstroke). Recently, ion transporters have been demonstrated on basolateral part of thyrocytes. Potassium channel subunits KCNQ1 and KCNE2, form a thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) –stimulated, constitutively active, thyrocyte K+ channel required for normal thyroid hormone biosynthesis and are essential for iodine trapping by Na+/Isymporter (NIS). This has led to new areas of intervention and opened new targets for treatment for thyroid diseases.

The roles of potassium channels in contractile response to urotensin-II in mercury chloride induced endothelial dysfunction in rat aorta

Urotensin-II (U-II), the most potent vasoconstrictor that has recently been recognized as a new candidate in cardiovascular dysfunction, might exert vasoconstriction through, at least partially, potassium channels that are predominant in both endothelial and vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). The present study was designed to evaluate the roles of potassium channels in vascular responses to ...

P 155: The Roles of Microglia in Neurodegenerative Diseases

Microglia is a type of glial cell located throughout the central nervous system (CNS), which is sensitive to CNS injury and disease. Responsibility of microglia as the resident macrophage cells for injuries suggests that these cells have the potential to act as diagnostic markers of disease beginning or progression. Function of Microglia is strongly synchronized by the microenvironment of brain...

Recent Advances in the Pathogenesis and Drug Action in Periodic Paralyses and Related Channelopathies

The periodic paralysis (PP) are rare autosomal-dominant disorders associated to mutations in the skeletal muscle sodium, calcium, and potassium channel genes characterized by muscle fiber depolarization with un-excitability, episodes of weakness with variations in serum potassium concentrations. Recent advances in thyrotoxic PP and hypokalemic PP (hypoPP) confirm the involvement of the muscle p...

Synthesis and Vasorelaxant Effect of 9-aryl-1,8-acridinediones as Potassium Channel Openers in Isolated Rat Aorta

ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channel openers have a relaxation effect due to the lower cellular membrane potential and inhibit calcium influx. There has been considerable interest in exploring KATP channel openers in the treatment of various diseases such as cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and urinary system disease and premature labor. The purpose of this study was to synthesize 3,3,6,6-tet...
